Out of the Blu.

Blu is actually the only west coast artist that made it onto XXL’s Freshman Class for 2009.

With so many power hitters in his class, Blu definitely admits that it can be a bit intimidating.

You got cats that were like, ‘man I put out a mixtape a month for the last year.’ I was like, ‘What?’ Yeah, everybody’s on they shit though.

Unfortunately, Blu hasn’t been receiving as much publicity. But that will most definitely change as he has dropped a mixtape entitled (So)ul Amazing 2 today. The 19 tracks up for download offer dynamic lyrics accompanied by beats that make you want to drop everything you’re doing and …  just … chill.

It would simply dumb to try and compare his style to that of another. However, Blu has named a number of his influences and their individual impacts show.

I went from DMX to Redman to Cannibus. “4, 3, 2, 1” was my shit. Then I got into Common. I actually heard “I Used to Love H.E.R.” after missing the first album.

Download his album HERE. Cover artwork and tracklist after the jump. Give “The Classy Man” (fourth song off (So)ul Amazing 2) a listen below.
