Doom: The Mysterious Masked Man.

What do Adult Swim, Fantastic Four enemy Doctor Doom, a mysterious metal mask, and a British man named Daniel Dumile have in common?  Seemingly very little, but together they provided the persona and musical inspiration for rapper Doom.

Doom has been in the game for a long time, and gone by many different names, and worked with many different artists, most notably his collaboration with DJ Danger Mouse in forming the group Danger Doom.

Dumile broke out as a solo artist in 2004 under the name MF Doom, and as part of his new identity only performs in and is photographed wearing his signature metal mask influenced by the Marvel Comics villian Doctor Doom.

He quickly gathered a strong following with his solo albums and collaboration with producers Madlib and Danger Mouse, which resulted in the Madvillian and Danger Doom side projects.

Since then, Doom has slipped into the darkness, with small production projects here and there, but is back with his first full length solo album in over four years, Born Into This, set to be released March 24th.  According to Lex Records it will be Doom’s:

definitive album… encapsulating but surpassing all of his previous workdefinitive album… encapsulating but surpassing all of his previous work.

Whether you are olds fans or new acquaitances with Doom’s work (Adult Swim, especially Aqua Teen Hunger Force fans should at least be familiar with his sound), take a listen to two tracks off his upcoming album.
