Justice Does Coke.
February 18, 2009

Before visions of Justice doing lines across from Lindsay Lohan and Tony Montana fill your mind, you should know that we’re talking about the soft drink franchise.

French-House duo Justice teamed up with director-extraordinaire/Ed Banger Creative Director/all-around baller So Me to remake the classic Coca-Cola bottle, as well as shooting a brand new commercial for the super-franchise.

If only Coke would start using real sugar again…

The Five One x Andre 3000 – Love in War (Remix).
February 5, 2009

This morning, we present to you the fifth track in a series of 51 remixes being put out by the Virginia based group The Five One Band.

To classify this group as strictly “hip-h0p” is an injustice to their creativity, complexity and individualism.  It’s these characteristics that set them apart and make them a force to be reckoned with in the near future.

Don’t what the Revalulion is? You will soon.

Their current project is a year-long mixtape of remixes titled 5109: The Remix Album.

Thus far, they’ve remixed songs like “Amazing”  and “Face the Gun”, but this thought provoking and message filled track is one of the best so far.

The Five One Band will be making a lot of noise this year and you will be seeing much more from them on this site in the near future.  In the meantime, we’d like to introduce to the four guys who make up the group: Red, Blue, Green, and Gold.  Get familiar.

Shepard Fairey Gets Sued.
February 5, 2009

Obama Poster

You all know, or should know, who Shepard Fairey is by now.  He’s the artist behind the Barack Obama “Hope” portrait seen above.

This image was plastered everywhere in the months preceding the election and countless numbers of it have been sold.

Well, now the Associated Press, who took the original picture seen to the left, is suing poor Shep for his use of their image.  I guess the recession depression is hitting the AP hard too, because they clearly just want a cut of the proceeds from the poster sales.

Shouldn’t the AP be reporting the news, rather than making it.  Oh well, best of luck to Sheppard as he fights the pending lawsuit.

Hit the jump to see other images that could be part of the litigation.

Shepard Fairey Plasters Boston.
January 30, 2009

Shepard Fairey has graced the streets once again with his undeniably unique talent for urban art.

This time, he picked Boston to showcase his said talent.

Even with temperatures that’re hitting the low teens, the South Carolina has been spotted throwing up stickes, murals and wheatpastes all throughout the the city that houses the Green Mon-sta.

More pictures after the jump.

KidRobot Selfridges Concept Store.
January 25, 2009

KidRobot recently opened up a temporary concept store in London’s famed department store Selfridges.

Designer toys.

Try explaining the concept to your old gramps and he’ll give you the ol “when I was a boy, toys were meant to be played with” speech.

Shut it, grandpa.

The popup concept store was mainly opened to celebrate KidRobot’s Ye Olde English Dunny series. Everything was designed by the man behind the company, naturally: Paul Budnitz.

The company was started back in ’02 and it purely revolves around the two words “limited edition.”

Everything they do from their toys to their apparel quickly becomes collector’s items. The fact that uber-talented artists contribute to the series may help as well.

Everyone from Shepard Fairey (of Obey) to Mike Shinoda (of Linkin Park) have been linked to KidRobot designs.

You should know this by now.
