This Is How You Have Yourself A Cry.
April 26, 2010

Rumor has it that this was the same reaction T-Pain’s father gave when he saw his wife pop out a baby rocking Oakley shades and a top hat out from between her legs.

Wait for the 0:16 mark. Trust us.

And if you haven’t seen the original, you need to see it. You’ll appreciate it so much more. Watch it HERE.

Dance Party in the Library.
May 4, 2009

Sorry for the lack of posts as of late, peoples of the internets. All of the crew at KTBN are suffering a slow death by finals at each of our respective schools.

The good news is that we found a way to incorporate the site into everyone’s studies.

One of RayKay’s friends bet him that he couldn’t start a dance party in the library during exams.

Yeah. He was dead wrong.

Man, we keep telling people but some heads just still aren’t listening. Just in case YOU forgot …

Kanye West- Gay Fish (South Park).
April 9, 2009

For 13 seasons Trey Parker and Matt Stone have made a living off the hilarious adventures of four small town Colorado boys and making fun of celebrities.  Diddy got hit. Metallica got hit. It was only a matter of time before they got Kanye.

And boy did they get him. They got him from all angles: his ego, his attire, the auto-tune, everything.

Luckily, Kanye took it all in stride, issuing this response on his blog.

In case you didn’t catch the whole song during the episode, South Park Studios released the full, uncensored version of Stone and Parker’s “Heartless” remix, “Gay Fish.”

Dude Royal: He’s Just That Kewl Negro.
April 8, 2009

Mikey Rocks x Dude Royal x Hollywood Holt- This Shit is Easy. Download HERE.

The above track was released a few weeks ago, featuring Mikey Rocks of The Cool Kids and Dude Royal.  You’re probably thinking “who’s Dude Royal” Well, as any trip to his MySpace of Facebook page will show you, Dude Royal is not your run of the mill rapper.

Michael “Dude Royal” Hooks resides in Encino, CA, and he’s the son of the Prison Break producer. He cites Gucci Mane has his only influence and his band interest is “befriending white girls around the world”.

Oh, did we mention the beat for “This Shit is Easy” is a Dude Royal original?  Now you’re definitely intrigued.

Very few hands have held a copy of his first unreleased album, Loopdy Doops, Woops, & Swoodles (download it HERE.) On this album, Hooks takes on three different rap personas: Vader Ganchos, Carey Skywalker, and of  course Dude Royal.  The short tracks and funky beats grow on you, just ask anyone in the Valley or Ann Arbor.

Through various connections, Dude landed in the studio with Mikey Rocks and booked a performance at SXBW.  Having his foot officially in the door of legitimate hip-hop, Dude Royal has stepped up his dedication and is currently working on his sophomore album, 818s & Heartbreaks.

Only time will tell whether Dude Royal can reach rap royalty … but he has certainly made big strides. You can be assured that he will not lose that “kewl negro” sound that has gotten him this far.

Hit the jump for early Dude Royal tracks and of course the tracklist. We haven’t done our job if you don’t.

The Real – TMZ You in Hell (Video).
April 1, 2009

It’s only right we provide you with means of laughter on this April Fools Day.

We have, but again, another installment of our two favorite funny white kids telling everyone why Nick Cannon, is still the shit.

Despite the fact that he just got Mariah pregnant and that they’re “contemplating a possible separation,”  sources are reporting that Mariah believes that love still costs a thing. We’re confident that our boy Nick Cannon aka “Coco Fresh,” will stick it through till death do them part (which for Mariah, is probably closer that it seems), instead of reverting back to his wild’n out days.

Remember to do us a favor today and play a joke on someone; like, we just did to you (last sentence is false, but Nick Cannon is probably broke).

Kanye Forgets Lyrics at SXSW Concert.

Kanye West is human.

I hope we’re not he first ones to break you the news … but we may be the first ones to show you the evidence.

Above, you’ll find Ye forgetting the lyrics a number of times while performing “Good Life” at the Fader x Levi’s tent at SXSW. After a failed attempt at a quick series of ad libs, the Chicago rapper turns to his entourage for help.

A man behind the DJ booth tries to feed Yeezy the lyrics and then all of the G.O.O.D. Music artists (i.e. Kid Cudi, Consequence, Big Sean) storm the stage to help out their boss.

And you thought all entourages did was wear huge pieces of jewelry and maintain a stink face all day.

Pharrell @ McDonald’s in Paris.
March 24, 2009

It doesn’t matter if you’re Adam Sandler (remember Big Daddy?) or a world famous artist … McDonald’s doesn’t bend its menu rules for anyone.

Above, you’ll watch Pharrell dancing and singing, trying to convince the McDonald’s employees at the Paris airport to serve him a Big Mac.

Good to see that some great artists out there still aren’t afraid to let their guard down and have a good time. Watch the video.

It’s pretty funny.

Affion Crockett feat. Talib Kweli- 2009.

Affion Crockett feat. Talib Kweli- 2009. Download HERE.

Who is Affion Crockett? That’s not a bad question.  He’s definitely not known for throwin down dope lyrics over classic beats especially with the BKMC.

He’s probably most known as a cast member from Nick Cannon’s MTV show Wild-n-Out.  Nick Cannon is hilarious! (Chappelle’s Show reference) Get it.  He’s also been in a number of movies and TV shows, but he actually holds it down over this old school Common and Sadat-X song “1-9-9-9,” off of Soundbombing 2.

Both songs are pretty dope, listen to the original below and decide for yourself, which is better.

2009 Swagg Ball Competition.
February 19, 2009

Vodpod videos no longer available.

No one on the corner has swagger like … who?

That’s exactly the question Juelz Santana is out to answer. How does he go about doing that? By hosting the 2009 Swagg Ball Competition, of course. The rules are as follows:

1) Come dressed to impress

2) Every man must have two ladies with them

3) Said ladies must kiss one another and the swagg competitor before they’re admitted entrance

4) There will be several competitions (street look, grown look, ’80s look and swimsuit look)

It’s all said to go down in Miami. As ridiculous as this is … young artists like Tyga have already RSVPed and have every intention of attending.

We’re speechless.

Kanye West Details Interview

Kanye West is gracing the cover of Details March 09′ edition.

So… as much as you say that you hate him, autotune, and 808’s your probably gonna buy it anyways.

Here’s a little snippet that’ll most likely convince you to snag a copy of Kanye sporting his new “tum tum” haircut:

“First beat I did,” he recalls, “was in seventh grade, on my computer. I got into doing beats for the video games I used to try to make. My game was very sexual. The main character was, like, a giant penis. It was like Mario Brothers, but the ghosts were, like, vaginas. Mind you, I’m 12 years old, and this is stuff 30-year-olds are programming. You’d have to draw in and program every little step—it literally took me all night to do a step, ’cause the penis, y’know, had little feet and eyes.”

Entertaining, no?
