Chiddy Bang – Pass Out

Chiddy Bang… We’ve decided that, we “like you, like you.”

Check out Chiddy Bang’s rendition of Tinie Tempah’s “Pass Out.” While the original is already a great track, you can’t deny that our boys Xaphoon & Proto absolutely murdered this track. We’re talking Game 1  – Hawks vs. Magic murdered. Get ready for their album which is slated to drop late this summer. We’ll keep you updated.

Shout out to NUE Agency for letting us know about this one.

Theophilus London – I Want You [Mixtape].
April 30, 2010

You may or not remember Theophilus London’s last mixtape This Charming Mixtape.

Regardless, our favorite Brooklynite has just released his latest mixtape, I Want You.

Hosted by NYC’s Downtown Sweetheart, Va$tie, this highly anticipated mixtape has been on people’s minds ever since Theophilus London started tickling our fancy with “Life Of A Lover,” “A Stranger’s Heart” & “Soles of Fire.”

After teasing us worst than Roethlisberger’s favorite sorority girl, the mixtape finally dropped and we can’t help but think to ourselves that Theophilus London, is a star.

Including reworks of popular songs such as Ellen Goulding’s “Starry Eyed,” Tweet’s “Oops,” and Vampire Weekend’s “Giving Up The Gun,” (and some more tracks that we can’t put our finger on), the rest of the mixtape contains London’s typical concoction of 80’s heavy synths, African drum beats, rap-tronica, live instruments, dope lyrics, and smooth crooning.

Was that a bit complicated? What can we say, Theophilus London is the epitome of complicated…

and complicated has never sounded so good.

The Sneaker Mirror.
April 23, 2009

Vodpod videos no longer available.
Did you know that there’s course being taught at Carnegie Mellon University that’s entitled “Sneakerology 101?”  The Pittsburgh college has legitimzed the art and history of the sneaker by teaching about its connection to hip hop, the internet and basketball … all in the clasroom.

There’s even a midterm where you have to design a sneaker using the elements taught throughout the semester.

You probably also don’t know about this Sneaker Mirror that reproduces pixels fed through a live webcam by using the images of over 100 of the most iconic sneakers. It’s kind of hard to explain.

Just watch the video.

This crazy concept was conceived and delivered by Jessy Chorng for Kicksburgh 2009 (the guys that created Sneakerology 101).

Lady Gaga ft. LMFAO – Love Game (Party Rock).
April 6, 2009

If you don’t know about LMFAO, then you need to bookmark this page right now. Also, make it your homepage.

…and your sister’s homepage too.

We wrote about this upcoming electropop/hip-hop group a while ago. First they remixed Kanye’s Love Lockdown, now they’re remixing Lady Gaga’s “Love Game,” and when RayKay started bumping this, all he said was, “I (wanna) poke her face.”

Lady Gaga, the new Santigold/MIA? You know… everyone starts hopping on her disco stick and starts making hits (Hi Kanye!)?

Well, whatever direction this new phenomenon is going in, we likey.

The Real – Craziest Things We’ve Heard All Week.
March 30, 2009 – Craziest Things We’ve Heard All Week

In this installment from,  catch Nick Cannon tell the guys why he wants to rename their show, “Mariah.”

We haven’t gotten tired of TheReal’s outlandish and hilarious videos, they’re quite possibly one of the funniest things on the internet right now (besides Pimpin Curly).

Instead of pouting over how useless you feel being unemployed, or better yet, how useless you will feel when you can’t get a job after college, watch the video for your daily dose of laughter, it’ll do you some good.

Lupe Fiasco – Shining Down (ft. Matthew Santos) [Snippet].
March 30, 2009

With all the current and oh so exciting news about CuDi, Asher, Wale, Bobby Ray and etc., it left us wondering, what happened to our boy Lupe?

We think its fair to say that Lupe was the first recognizable artist to popularize, “being a nerd.” Despite the slew of artists that are embracing the concept of liking comic books and japanese manga, Lupe remains the numero uno to blaze tracks with his metaphorical rhyme schemes and incite a change among Hip Hop which has ultimately accepted this skateboarding nerd and propelled the genre to unbeknown territory.

If your trying to argue  that point, let’s go.

Anyways, Mr. Food and Liqour aka The Cool hits his fans up with a snippet of his new music and I’m more excited about hearing his new music than Michael Vick is about getting out of jail.

Thanks to GoWhereHipHop for the snippet. Enjoy.

Kanye West – Creating Complex Cover (Video).
March 25, 2009

Kanye West – Creating Complex cover

You do not have to be a regular visitor to this website to have seen either Kanye West’s video for “All Falls Down,”  “Jesus Walks (2nd Version),” or “Touch The Sky.” If you haven’t seen any of them… keep that to yourself. Anyways, each these music videos share one commonality (besides Kanye of course), and it’s the director, Chris Milk.

Music Director Chris Milk is slowly making a name for himself.

Considering the level of super stardom that Kanye West is reaching, it probably means alot if he is frequently using Chris Milk to direct his videos. Their artistic visions complement each other, so it isn’t surprising to see Kanye call upon him again to help photograph his cover shoot with Complex.

Although we don’t get to see Kanye’s sexy new girlfriend, the video gives us a glimpse into the creative genius of Kanye West and Chris Milk and how their minds collide to create a unique and eye-catching cover for Complex Mag.

GLC feat. Kanye West & T-Pain- Flight School (Official Version).
March 20, 2009

GLC feat. Kanye West & T-Pain- Flight School. Download HERE.

We hit you with the early release of “Flight School” a while back, which unfortunately did not include GLC’s verse.  But seeing as how this song is expected to be on GLC’s upcoming album it was just a matter of time before the full version was released.

Much better with GLC’s verse thrown in, don’t you agree?

The Kid Daytona – Fly Shit (Video).

The Kid Daytona – Fly Shit. Download the song HERE.

We made a mistake.

We’ve been talking about The Kid Daytona for a little while now … and we never gave you a real look into the artist’s background. So, here we go.

The Kid Daytona doesn’t exactly hail from the favorite destination of trashy spring breakers and leather-clad bikers. Actually, he’s from the Bronx.

While he was fortunate enough to attend a Catholic school in the South Bronx, the artist says it was a “catholic school in the ‘hood.” Meaning that he’s had his fair share of mishaps and run-ins.

… My boy’s mom used to be working, and we’d go in his crib and do all sorts of crazy shit. You ever seen that movie Kids? Imagine being like sixteen years old.

Know how artists seem to grow up together?

Try this on for size: Daytona often battled one of Young Money’s newest editions, Jae Millz, back in high school.

Now, the artist finds himself signed to Jackmove Inc. and making moves, much like the video above.

You can expect a lot of playful verses with funky sounds from The Kid Daytona. If there has ever been an artist that made a point of “doing his own thing,” stay with this guy.

Not only is he taking the roads less traveled, but he’s creating new ones.

Also, we’re always appreciative of an artist who knows how to dress. Thank you, Kid, for not being another rapper bludgeoning us with tacky combinations of high-end labels (like THIS guy).

Learn from our mistake and don’t pass up on The Kid Daytona! Download the mixtape that arguably brought the artist to fame, A Tribe Called Fresh, HERE.
