The Five One x Drake – Robin Hood.

The Five One x Drake- Robin Hood. Download HERE.

A day late and a dollar short, but the Deuce Burger for the week is here.  Apologies on our end for the delay, but better late than never.

This week The Five One kicks it lowkey over a Drake track, and if you listen to Gold’s opening verse you can understand why the song is named Robin Hood.

The group has been messin’ around with a lot of Disney movies and soundtrack concepts recently, all while getting used to new sound equipment. Which in case you don’t know, is a bitch to do.

Another interesting fact: Green’s nephew was brought in the studio to sing the chorus..first time every in the booth and he nailed it. Not bad, right?

Keep listening to the weekly Deuce Burgers, check them out on iTunes, and hit up, and keep it locked here for some exclusive stuff coming in the near future.

You should know this by now.

The Five One- Waiting For Her Again.
March 5, 2009

Daily readers should be accustomed to the one weekly tradition we have come up with so far, and that is the release of the DMV own’s The Five One Deuce Burgers on Deuce Day.   What??

Deuce Burger= Weekly remix track from their 5109: The Remix Album, which is a year long project

Deuce Day= Today, Thursday, the release date…it’s not hard..time to get familiar.

In the past the group has remixed Kanye, Andre 3000, and Vampire Weekend (*Mr. M’s personal favorite) among others, but this week they remix themselves.  The original song is called “Waiting For” off their 2008 album The Green Complex, and is definitely something you should scoop off of iTunes.

We will bring you both songs, with the original first, for comparisons sake, but don’t think you’re going to squeeze a free download out of us. Support the DMV and hit up iTunes if you’re feeling what you year.

The Five One- District of Colossus.

The Five One- District of Colossus.  Download HERE.

It’s Thursday, AKA Deuce Day, which means another installment of The Five One’s 5109: Remix Album.

The term “District of Colossus” was coined by group member Red Che and features two of the other three members, Green and Gold.

It’s a sample of a Vampire  Weekend song “Kids Don’t Stand a Chance”

They flipped into a song about the DC area and its influence and, as told to us by Gold, the inspiration for the song was:

People need to realize how important this location is. We are the ones that sparked DC hardcore.A respected and historical scene, influencing people all over the world.

Truth, he continues to say:

With that kind of unification, along with a genuine attempt at reviving the area and everything it stands for, this place can be whatever we want it to be.

Hit the jump to watch the video they made for the song as  well.

The Five One x Andre 3000 – Love in War (Remix).
February 5, 2009

This morning, we present to you the fifth track in a series of 51 remixes being put out by the Virginia based group The Five One Band.

To classify this group as strictly “hip-h0p” is an injustice to their creativity, complexity and individualism.  It’s these characteristics that set them apart and make them a force to be reckoned with in the near future.

Don’t what the Revalulion is? You will soon.

Their current project is a year-long mixtape of remixes titled 5109: The Remix Album.

Thus far, they’ve remixed songs like “Amazing”  and “Face the Gun”, but this thought provoking and message filled track is one of the best so far.

The Five One Band will be making a lot of noise this year and you will be seeing much more from them on this site in the near future.  In the meantime, we’d like to introduce to the four guys who make up the group: Red, Blue, Green, and Gold.  Get familiar.
