Two of the freshest products from north of the border hook up on this track.  Both Toronto natives, Drizzy and Promise, do their thing by putting together a little something something.

It’s pretty dope, eh?

You should know this by now.

Promise – Letter to Hip-Hop.
January 27, 2009

What happens when Talib Kweli describes your music as “fly, mad heartfelt, and inspirational,” and Martin Louie the King Jr. hosts two of your mixtapes?

You’re destined for greatness.

So goes the story of Promise, a self-described mixture of hip-hop and soul from Ontario, Canada.

Despite the backing of some big names, Promise has often fallen short of his aspirations as a musician.

The pressures of the industry and delaying of albums have not deterred the Canadian, as he has shown a work ethic only comparable to that of Papoose.

Fans anxiously awaited the release of his debut album, More Than Music, which was finally released at the end of 2008.

To ease the pressure for the album, Promise dropped Kanye West Presents Promise Vol. 2 (Download HERE), a follow-up to 2006’s  Kanye West Presents Promise Vol. 1 (Download HERE).

The track below is Promise’s  newest work and a response to the influx of tributes to dead rappers (see Jadakiss and Maino).

Everyone think it’s cool to write a letter to B.I.G., but it’s not, hip hop… you are better than this..

Take a listen and give us your thoughts on what the artist delivers. Promise?
