Did you know that there’s course being taught at Carnegie Mellon University that’s entitled “Sneakerology 101?”  The Pittsburgh college has legitimzed the art and history of the sneaker by teaching about its connection to hip hop, the internet and basketball … all in the clasroom.

There’s even a midterm where you have to design a sneaker using the elements taught throughout the semester.

You probably also don’t know about this Sneaker Mirror that reproduces pixels fed through a live webcam by using the images of over 100 of the most iconic sneakers. It’s kind of hard to explain.

This crazy concept was conceived and delivered by Jessy Chorng for Kicksburgh 2009 (the guys that created Sneakerology 101).

Nike Air Yeezy Fire Red Colorway. April 11, 2009

A new colorway for the mega hyped Air Yeezy was officially revealed at a Nike sneaker exhibition in Taipei.

With a simple,  black upper and a bold, bright red sole, this colorway definitely draws inspiration from the Jordan and has a more athletic feel to it than the other Yeezys we’ve seen.

No word on an official release date, but we will definitely keep you updated.

KiD CuDi for Famous Stars and Straps’ 10th Anniversary. April 7, 2009

It’s pretty hard to believe that Famous Stars and Straps has been around for 10 years now.

We feel like it really got its exposure when Travis Barker (part owner of FSAS) had that reality show Meet the Barkers with then wife, Shanna Moakler.

While his marriage with the former Miss USA has broken up, Barker’s clothing line is still going strong. In the video above, KiD CuDi sits down with a camera and talks about how DJ AM and Travis Barker were one of the first to really support his career.

Cudi also quickly talks about his album debuting this summer, Man on the Moon, and his upcoming HBO series How to Make it in America.

Playboy: Chicks in Kicks. March 30, 2009

Playboy hasn’t proved to be invincible to this recession (note the recent closing of its NYC office).

However, it has proved that it can show naked girls in hot pairs of kicks (which is much more important, right?).

The publication known for its mind-blowing journalism and articles hooked up with Chicago sneaker boutique Leaders1354 to show off some of the most popular kicks of the year in a special issue called Chicks in Kicks.

Once you stop ogling at all the girls, you’ll notice that most of the Playmates are sporting Supras.

For those of you who aren’t keen on math, we’ve provided a video to explain.

Even if you’re not quite Good Will Hunting, it’s no secret that Mos Def is always dressed to impress. That’s why UNDRCRWN asked him to design a line completely influenced by and focused on the Brooklyn MC.

You can expect a variety of varsity jackets, t-shirts and fitteds. Fans will be quick to notice that Mos’ favorite colors (red, green and black) take center stage in many of the designs.

Kanye West x Louis Vuitton | Don Sneaker & High Tops. March 5, 2009

Here are the official pictures of the much anticipated Kanye West x Louis Vuitton sneakers that are most appropriately named the, “Don Sneaker.”

These sneakers are official.

Kanye definitely created a sneaker unlike any other that’s out on the market today. The pink sole on the Grey colored sneakers is a great color combination; the two colors balance each other out enough to create a rather subtle and clean look.

And most of you probably noticed the heel of the sneaker too, which is emphasized much more than you’d see in any other kind of sneakers these days. For those of you who aren’t into the color ways, the white/black/white & black versions are looking fresh.

BBC has released a sneaker in the ever so  familiar Chuck Taylor Silouette.

Seeing how SenorReyes has a newfound soft spot for this popular style and also considering the fact that he’s stylin a different life, we think these’ll be on his feet in the next two weeks.

Provided by of course he can cough up 210 for them.

BBC/Ice Cream has released yet another new sneaker this season. Coming in a Converse Chuck Taylor silhouette, the sneaker features thei space canvas pattern. The sneaker is now available at Standard for 210 USD.

Don’t you love Converse?

For the Converse aficionados who’ve been stuck on the lonely planet of “black and white” chucks, Converse is here to spice up your life.

Despite selling something ridiculous like 8 billion pairs worldwide over its long-standing existence, we still see some interesting releases from the classic Chuck Taylor All Star. Revolving around the use of madras materials, the contrast is limited to only select portions on the heel and liner on both low-tops and high-tops. A Carhartt-esque tan and white version are available now at ripe.

That’s exactly the question Juelz Santana is out to answer. How does he go about doing that? By hosting the 2009 Swagg Ball Competition, of course. The rules are as follows:

1) Come dressed to impress

2) Every man must have two ladies with them

3) Said ladies must kiss one another and the swagg competitor before they’re admitted entrance

4) There will be several competitions (street look, grown look, ’80s look and swimsuit look)

It’s all said to go down in Miami. As ridiculous as this is … young artists like Tyga have already RSVPed and have every intention of attending.

We’re speechless.

Firstly, if you haven’t heard of 88-Keys and his album The Death of Adam, you need to either

1) Go out and buy it (which is what we recommend) 2) Or continue being the theif you are and download it from somewhere.

Anyways, we found this video at mens.style.com. If you think your a Lo’ Head, watching this video will make you think twice.

88-Keys has been sporting RL since 93′ and it is literally the only brand that he has in his closet.

He mentions that his obsession with RL is parallel to Martin Louie The King Jr‘s obsession with Louie Vuitton.

After you watch this video, you’ll realize that 88-Keys’s RL obsession far surpasses Kanye’s.

But no matter what happens… you will think twice before calling yourself someone else a Lo’ Head.

Since photography is strictly prohibited in all Bape stores, these pictures of the LA boutique are pretty exciting.
